Be Aware of your purpose before its too late

Well, This might be the most difficult yet most important question one might ask self. What should I do in life? What does life has in store for me? What's the best I can do so that it excites and fascinates me. And at the same time, plays an important role for the society and makes good use of my abilities and strength. I am sure this question must be haunting you now and then almost all the time till you have a clear idea what you love doing. Believe me, everybody has to go through the phase. The question can sometime leave you restless. But usually this is a good sign because you are thinking hard for your future and want the best. You won't settle for anything less than that. So more the time you spend on deciding it, the better it is as it will give you a clear picture in your mind. Then it will be easy for you to sail your life boat in the right direction.

I have also gone through the same phase. I will forever be in debt to those (i.e my mentors, family members, colleages, friends) who guided me on the career path and helped me see different perspective of life. Some of these discussions taught me things I was never aware of. I think its worth to note down some of these as these might be good information for you to decide course of your life boat too.

But why is it so important to decide your course of life. Confucius, the great Chinese philosopher explains it in very simple terms.

"Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a single day in your life."

Find out the job that excites and interests you

What's the first step to reach a target ? I think many readers would already have found out the context. Yes, the first step to reach a target is to identify the target.

Every human being is unique. There is a purpose behind everybody's existence. There may be couple of thing you do really good. There might also be a few things you are not that good at. Some particular job might excite you even after you have spent couple of years in same domain. Yet sometimes a few months seem never ending if the job doesn't motivate you and you find it boring.

These are the symbols by which your body and your mind try to communicate you to ponder and find your real purpose. By Purpose, I mean the exact specific task, which if you do that's a win win situation both for you and your society and perfect justice to your talent. Respond to these stimulis and spend a few hours examining these. Believe me, the effort you put behind it is worth spending. Then when you see yourself in a mirror, you will see the real you. Not the person others intended you to be or the person you were pretending to be.

When you really like a job, you feel passionate to do it. Passion is a source of unlimited energy. It’s one of the important ingredients which decides whether you are a success or failure. That's why it is important to love your job, if you want to excel in it.

There is another great danger in deciding to do something which you are not passionate for. In course of time, you will meet passionate and energetic people doing the same job who will easily put you on a back seat and take the game away from you.

Don't forget to get inputs from your near and dear ones (colleagues, friends, family members, well wishers). They might also be able to help you identify your forte as they have been a part of your life and know you really well.

Its essential for you to find what you love doing !!!

Build a track to reach your goal

Once you have identified your target, the next step is to build a track to reach the target. This step is not as difficult as the first one, but needs great amount of collaboration.

You might need to complete a skill set evaluation to know your current position. Then take help from your mentors, friends, people who have already scaled the same path. Understand what it takes in terms of effort, time and resources to reach there. Gather the inputs and decide on a roadmap. It should contain all the tasks in a step by step manner. Remember, the more clear your roadmap is, more definite your path to success.

Scale the heights

Once you have identified your target and the roadmap, the final step is to scale the heights. After initial two steps, it won't be that difficult. It is just a matter of time before you reach the peak. Wish you all the best in identifying your purpose and navigate to your destiny. Remember the following words by a great industrialist in all times

"You have got to find what you love….If you have not found it yet, keep looking and don't settle."
